Mother + Daughter Empowering Joy Through Creative Expression

Joyous Abilities for Children Inc. is a nonprofit, initiated by a mother/daughter team, committed to fostering creativity, confidence, and joy in elementary-aged children with neurodiverse needs. Guided by our mission, "Every human deserves to feel joy," we create accessible arts programs that celebrate individuality and promote wellness. Our puzzle piece logo symbolizes our dedication to supporting children with Autism Spectrum Disorder and other Neurodiverse needs. Through dance workshops, art classes, and musical activities, we empower children to explore their creativity, build skills, and form meaningful connections in a nurturing and inclusive community.

Jillian Collier

Founder

Jillian Collier, a student at Spelman College, is the Founder/CEO of Joyous Abilities Inc.  Jillian began teaching dance at just 15 years old, and it was one of her autistic students who sparked a profound sense of purpose within her—igniting a lifelong commitment to making the arts accessible to every child.

Rooted in a legacy of educational leadership and artistic expression, Jillian draws inspiration from her mother, Dr. Jennifer Collier, the trailblazing Superintendent of Kansas City Public Schools. Guided by her family’s dedication to public service and her own passion for educational equity, Jillian created Joyous Abilities to offer arts-based programs that uplift children with disabilities and raise awareness about the systemic barriers facing students in Special Education.

Dr. Jennifer Collier

She is a certified NISL trainer, a PHR-certified professional, and completed the Harvard School Turnaround Leaders Institute in 2019. Dr. Collier is dedicated to expanding partnerships through her advocacy for special education, supporting Joyous Abilities for Children Inc., and championing greater integration of arts education into school curricula.
